What are the UPC Codes?
Initially, UPC or you can say the Universal Product Codes were created. It is considered as the first common product barcode which was originated in 1973. It helps to identify a specific product. UPC codes are utilized in the US and Canada. There are two parts, one is the machine-readable barcode, it’s a series of unique black lines/bars. Another is the 12-digit unique number below it. What are EAN Codes?
Later the demand for them increased in countries such as Asia, Europe, and Australia. This is when the organization designed the EAN or European Article Numbers in the year 1976. They are used globally and comprises 13-digits. Ten out of thirteen digits help to identify the product, one is used as a check code, and the rest two digits are the country code.
Difference between UPC & EAN Codes:
Both of them are almost similar but the only sole difference between them is their visual appearance. They exhibit different sets of human-readable digits.
